Making Tax

Digital

What is MTD?

HMRC are changing the way we report and pay for our taxes, whether this be VAT, income tax for self employed and property owners, or corporation tax.

The idea is that we all record and report information to HMRC digitally and on a quarterly basis.   Eventually, payment of taxes will also move to a quarterly basis, although not in the short term.

MTD for those businesses which are VAT registered are already reporting VAT digitally each quarter.  This came into full force from April 2022.   For all other businesses and SME companies, this is being phased in over the coming years.

Use our digital practice
for your MTD reporting.

Sole trade businesses and Landlords

From April 2026, sole trade businesses and landlords with an income of over £50,000 a year shall need to report to HMRC via MTD each quarter, with an additional End of Period Statement and Final Declaration.  This is the postponed start to the phasing in of MTD for all businesses.

We have guided many clients through the transition of traditional VAT reporting to MTD seamlessly.  As we are a fully digital practice with great app stack; run our business paperfree, as well as being involved in testing software, we are the ideal partner to help support and guide you through the changes ahead with seamless transition and the right tech in place.
