Sustainability & Innovation

Since we opened our doors we’ve been passionate about having a positive impact on the planet.  We truly believe that small businesses can make a positive difference!  Some of the ways in which we deliver on sustainability:

Digital & Innovate Working

We invest in the best technologies, not only to support our clients but also to enable us to run our business to maximum efficiency with minimum impact on the planet.  We have a varied app stack which we use and encourage our clients to engage with as well as our secure client portal.  We do this by:

  • App stack and client secure portal working with out clients
  • Continually reviewing how we work with our clients to achieve best practice
  • Working with clients who embrace digital working
  • Helping clients move from paper to fully digital working
  • Encouraging hybrid and flexible working
  • Being paperfree
Paperfree

Think! Do we need to really print?  We are striving to become 100% paperfree, however we still face some challenges with this.  For example, HMRC still insist on written letters in the majority of cases.   However, we are 99% there and this is how we deliver in all other areas:

  • No paper client files – everything digital
  • Working digitally with our clients via a secure client portal and app stack
  • No business cards
  • Digital guides and newsletters
  • Paper is 100% recycled paper

Our Location 

We specifically chose The Core, our offices based in Newcastle’s Innovation Centre, the Helix, which is a 24 acre testbed site comprising innovate private and public sector businesses, along with Newcastle University.  It is one of Europe’s most important innovation hubs.  As an innovative and sustainable business ourselves, the location of our office is at the top of our list of priorities. The Core is a fabulous collaborative workspace which helps support remote working, as well as being easily accessible by public transport for our team and clients.  However, most importantly:

  • Building meets BREEAM (the very high environmental rating)
  • Building design means traditional air conditioning is not required in the offices
  • Designed to enable natural airflow
  • A green roof and a large living green wall
  • Cycle parking
  • Waste recycling
Our People 

Our team completely gets what we are trying to achieve. We have our mission statement, clear values and guiding principles which encompass sustainable thinking throughout.  To quote Mahatma Gandhi, ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world’.

We have always offered very flexible, hybrid working which not only gives our team a better work/life balance but also reduces down on unnecessary commuting which can only have a positive environmental impact on the planet.  We are constantly striving for best practice which means we are flexible and embrace innovation where we know this will help deliver on our goals.

We support our team taking time out of their working week to help non-profits.

We have always strived to work towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, in particular:

  • Gender Equality
  • Responsible Consumption & Production
Going Forward 

We have some exciting sustainable goals and innovations planned for 2023 and we’ll be sharing these here once they are in progress.
